Target Group: School going children (between the ages of 11–20 years -Middle School and High school)
The After School Program (ASP) targets school going children who don’t have sufficient space in their homes to study and do their schoolwork. (Most of whom come from small, tiny single room houses that don’t even have electricity) So, the program provides them with a place to study and do their homework with the help of a tutor. After which they have a small devotion, take a (hot) meal, and head home.
This program runs Weekly from Monday to Friday (when schools are in session). Then on Saturdays, (since most of them don’t even have a playing ground at home) wehave them over for a children’s and youth’s discipleship classes thatrun concurrently from 10:30am to 2:00 pm. After which they take lunch before heading back home.
And on the last Saturday of the Term, we host them for a movie night (educational movies) from 4:30pm. to 7:30pm. After which they take snacks and head home.
As a result of this program, we’ve seen.
- Increased literacy and numeracy among students.
- Improvement in school performance.
- Higher enrollment and retention rates in schools.
- Decreased educational disparities among different demographics.
- Improved access to quality education for marginalized communities.
